LICHA-CAMEROON and XHUMA AFRICA facilitated a one-day peacebuilding workshop in MOMO Division under the theme “The Classroom as a Vector for Peace: Institutionalizing Non-violence Conflict Resolution and Cohesion through School-Based Youth Clubs in Cameroon.” The workshop brought together student teachers and teacher trainers from ENIET and ENIEG Mbengwi, alongside community leaders and youth leaders. The initiative focused on strengthening the role of education as a foundation for peacebuilding, especially in conflict-affected contexts.
The workshop provided a participatory platform for dialogue, experience sharing, and capacity building on non-violent conflict resolution approaches. Participants were equipped with practical skills on how to integrate peace education into classroom practice and how to establish and sustain school-based youth peace clubs. It also emphasized the importance of collaboration between schools, communities, and young people in promoting social cohesion. This intervention was particularly timely, given the ongoing armed conflict affecting the English-speaking regions of Cameroon, where education systems and community structures continue to face significant challenges.
