LICHA-CAMEROON and COSSA International Commemorate World Menstrual Hygiene Day
On May 28, 2026, LICHA Cameroon in partnership with COSSA International, commemorated World Menstrual Hygiene Day 2026 through a community sensitization campaign in a rural area of Bamenda III Municipality.
Under the theme “Flow with Confidence,” the initiative brought together adolescent girls aged 10–16 years to learn about the menstrual cycle, menstrual hygiene management, and the importance of maintaining good health and hygiene practices during menstruation. The sessions provided a safe and interactive space where participants could ask questions, share experiences, and gain accurate information to help them manage their periods with confidence and dignity.
The activity also engaged adolescent boys and parents, helping to promote understanding, reduce stigma, and encourage a supportive environment for girls both at home and in school. As part of the outreach, sanitary pads were distributed free of charge to the girls, and safe kits were established in the schools visited to provide ongoing support for menstrual hygiene needs. The initiative was warmly welcomed by students, parents, and community members, who applauded LICHA Cameroon and COSSA International for their efforts in promoting menstrual health awareness and empowering adolescent girls to stay healthy, confident, and engaged in their education.
